Maltitol - a source of inspiration in the sugar-free market

The Food Business Unit of Roquette looks at the advantages of maltitol in the production of healthier foods
While everhyone is calling for healthier foods to combat problems such as obesity and diabetes, maintaining the texture and flavour of products traditionally associated wtih a treat is a real challenge for sectors such as the confectionery industry.

One major advantage of this ingredient is that its physico-chemical properties are very close to those of sugar, meaning that in most cases it allows for a simple weight-for-weight substitution with no major formulation or process modification needed.
