Roquette's chocolate seminar 'Belgian Chocolate, Belgian Pride'

'Better-for-you' chocolate products: MALTISORB® maltitol takes the lead
In collaboration with BARENTZ's Belgian representatives, ROQUETTE recently hosted a special seminar on chocolates entitled "Belgian Chocolate, Belgian Pride". The seminar took place in Belgium, Groot Bijgaarden, near Brussels on 31st May 2005. Many local chocolate manufacturers attended.
Health is today's key preoccupation and confectionery products like chocolate are obviously affected. During the seminar, ROQUETTE clarified the current concerns, while reassuring attendees with some efficient proven solutions.
After an overview of the chocolate market, ROQUETTE demonstrated that MALTISORB® crystalline maltitol is taking a leading role in the development of healthier products. In 2004, approximately half of the "low/no/reduced sugar" chocolate products launched worldwide were made with maltitol*.
At the end of the seminar, Jacques LEPOUTRE, a consultant, related the success story of the sugar-free & no-sugar-added range of chocolates launched in 2003 by "Jours Heureux".
Thanks to sugar-free versions of the "Mignonnette" chocolates, the company has increased Mignonnette turnover by 30% ! The sugar substitute chosen to achieve this was MALTISORB® maltitol.
