In response to ever more nutritional warnings, increasing numbers of consumers want to reduce their sugar intake – while still insisting on being able to indulge themselves.

Because maltitol is the best sucrose substitute – especially for taste and technical reasons - its use is rapidly becoming common in many sweetened products offering sugar reduction. This is shown by the exponential growth in food products using maltitol launched in Europe since 2001.
