MALTISORB^® maltitol is a cereal-derived sugar substitute of the polyol family. Many polyols occur naturally in various fruits and vegetables. MALTISORB^® maltitol is created by the hydrogenation of maltose, a sugar obtained directly from cereals.

Effective nutritional properties

Tooth decay, weight management, reduced carbs, obesity, diabetes: words like these highlight some of today's key health concerns, reflecting the increasing pressures on consumers to focus on health maintenance and disease prevention. Reduced-calorie sweetener: up to 75% and 50% fewer calories than fat and sugar respectively, MALTISORB^® maltitol allows better management of energy load.

Fat reduction: in certain applications such as chocolate, MALTISORB^® maltitol does not require more fat than sugar to obtain the desired viscosity, unlike some other sugar substitutes.

Non-cariogenicity: MALTISORB^® maltitol is safe for the teeth. This means you can formulate products to conform to the scientific criteria allowing the use of:

• the International Toothfriendly Association logo,
• the FDA's 'does not promote tooth decay' health claim,

provided they do not contain other fermentable or acidic products.

The reliability of research

Over more than thirty years almost 200 comprehensive studies conducted by a range of different scientific research organizations have demonstrated the health benefits of maltitol.
